The Salina Central High School Band is proud to recognize an outstanding group of students selected for the North Central Kansas Music Educators Association (KMEA) Honor Band and Honor Jazz Band. These ensembles represent some of the finest high school musicians from across the region, selected through competitive auditions that test tone, technique, and overall musicianship.

Salina Central students made up more than seventy percent of the district honor jazz band ensemble, which is a significant accomplishment and speaks to the depth of the jazz program.

Honor Ensemble Performances

The North Central KMEA High School Honor Band will rehearse and perform on Saturday, December 6 at Manhattan High School. The final concert will begin at 2:30 PM.
The North Central KMEA Honor Jazz Band will rehearse and perform on Monday, December 8 at Salina South High School. The final concert will begin at 2:30 PM.

Statewide Recognition for Salina Soul Jazz Ensemble

The Salina Soul Jazz Ensemble received the highest statewide honor by being selected as an invited ensemble for the Kansas Music Educators Association State In-Service Workshop. This invitation is granted through a blind audition process where top jazz musicians listen to recordings and select only the strongest ensembles from across Kansas. This is a very competitive and prestigious recognition.

Salina Soul will perform at the KMEA State In Service Workshop on Thursday February 26, 2026 at 12:30 PM in the Hyatt Ballroom in Wichita, Kansas.
