Student of the week

Yader Martinez is a Freshman at Salina Central High School. Yader is involved in Central's math and art departments, with his favorite classes being Math and ELS group. Yader would like to finish high school and continue on to university to be a doctor or veterinarian to help support him and his family. He enjoys family activities and loves pets.

Phoebe Montena is a Junior at Salina Central High School. Phoebe is involved in Central's  Advanced Women's Choir, and Link Leaders. Phoebe likes the welcoming feeling that the staff and teachers set in the building. After high school she plans to attain an art/music degree, college is still being decided. Phoebe enjoys hanging out with friends, playing Xbox, and snuggling with her 3 cats, Gilbert, Luna, and Master Chef.

Student of the week

Candace Gomendoza is a Senior at Salina Central High School. Candace is Vice-President for HOSA Future Health Care Professionals, she is a math relays Mathlete, and a member of NHS and the Scholars Bowl team. In the community Candace volunteers at Salina Shares (Laundry Love), Salina Regional Health Center, and co-teaches in the nursery and Sunday school at her Church. Her favorite subject has always been math, she also enjoys Mrs. Jett's Comp. I & II classes. After graduation, Candace will attend Kansas University to major in biology under pre-dental (research).Fun facts about Candace; she enjoys crocheting in her free time, has played classical piano for 12 years, and is a boba tea fanatic.

Seahna Johns is a Sophomore at Salina Central High School. Seahna loves the variety of art classes available here at Central. She is thankful for the teachers that make a positive environment including Ms. Tackett, Ms. Waldron, Mr. Cullins, etc. After high school Seahna wants to take 1-3 years living on the road and become a tattoo artist to make enough money for her own business. Her favorite color is earthy green!

Alexis Penner is a Freshman at Salina Central High School. Alexis is a part of the GSA club here at Central. She enjoys learning new things about the people around her, and her favorite subject is math. Alexis plans to attend Kansas State University for Agriculture/Horticulture and/or Kansas University for Art/Animation. She has interests in art, gardening, reading, and likes her quiet time.

Calum Johnson is a Sophomore at Salina Central High School. Calum is involved in Central's jazz band, swim team, track & field, and the disc golf club. His community roles are head life guard, and started a junior disc gulf league. Calum enjoys being with social with friends and says his favorite class and teacher is Band with Mr. Rodriguez. Calum wants to pursue a degree in Law preferably at Kansas University or Washburn University after his high school career.

Everett "Elijah" Palmer is a Junior at Salina Central High School. Everett has helped every day in the lunchroom picking up trays and throwing away trash. He notices students who are done eating and volunteers to take their trays and dump them so that they don't have to. Everett is making a difference here at Central, Mr. Maring appreciates his help.

Student of the week

Juan "Angel" Luna is a Senior at Salina Central High School. Angel plays on the Football and Track & Field teams. He volunteers to help at Relay for Life. He enjoys all teachers and staff, but his favorite teacher is Mrs. Abker because she is so caring about her students. Angel has signed to go play football at Fort Hays State University and will be majoring in Marketing Management. Angel says that he enjoys helping and motivating others so that they can achieve the best version of themselves.

Student of the weekGage Gibson is a Freshman at Salina Central High School. Gage plays on the Football and Track & Field teams. He likes his Conditioning, Vocal, and Math classes. After high school Gage would like to attend Kansas State University. Gage enjoys hanging out with friends and spending time with his family.

Student of the weekAnastasiya Brown is a Sophomore at Salina Central High School. Anastasiya enjoys being involved with Art in and out of school. She likes school and having the interaction with her friends. After high school she plans to become a licensed CNA.

Student of the weekKarlyn Brecheisen is a Senior at Salina Central High School. Karlyn is involved in STUCO - Student Body President and National Honor Society. She is also on the Relay for Life Committee and Captain member in the Salina Community. Karlyn likes the Art Department best at Central High. She plans to attend Kansas State University to major in Interior Design. In Karlyn's spare time she enjoys spending time with friends and going shopping.

Student of the weekMason Clark is a Junior at Salina Central High School. Mason is involved in multiple school activities such as Football, Track & Field, Link Leader, Disc Golf Club, and Chess Club Vice President. His involvement in the community has been a helping hand at Relay for Life. Mason enjoys the support his teachers offer him. His choice of College after High school has yet to be determined.

Student of the weekJoseph Munoz Chavez is a Freshman at Salina Central High School. Joseph does what he needs to do to be successful as a student and young man at Central. He's pleasant to be around and shows character when faced with challenges. Joseph enjoys his classes and socializing with his friends, he has 1 sibling and 1 dog.

Student of the weekDestiny Carr is a Sophomore at Salina Central High School. Destiny enjoys culinary classes. She is active in her church with childcare and their tech team, also volunteers at the homeless shelters. Destiny likes all of her classes and teachers but, math/accounting are her favorites. Destiny plans to go to college for Law, school location is undecided at this time. Her philosophy is "Regardless of what happens - we'll get through it!"

Student of the weekAlison Coykendall is a Junior at Salina Central High School. Alison is on the CH wrestling and swim teams and is also apart of the writing center. She loves wrestling for Central because of her amazing coaches and fellow team members and also the discipline and technical aspects of the sport. Alison is undecided on a college although, she plans on going to nursing school. She enjoys reading, writing, hanging out with her friends, and playing with her cat Goose.

Student of the weekAraceli Segura is a Senior at Salina Central High School. Araceli is involved in Spanish club, 2D & 3D AP Art. Her favorite classes are her art classes because it's a peaceful place for her, and her Spanish class with Mr. Alvarado. After high school Araceli plans to go to College and get a 2-year degree at Bethany College. Araceli says, "I would like people to know that I'm the first child of three. The daughter of two wonderful Hispanic parents and family. And like many I still don't know what I want to do in life but continue art as a hobby."

Student of the weekNathan Goldbach is a Freshman at Salina Central High School. Nathan is involved in the CHS gaming club, theatre, and the bowling team. Outside of school he plays on a bowling league. Math is Nathan's favorite subject because he likes the challenge of figuring out problems that seem impossible. After graduating high school Nathan would like to go to College and get accepted into Law School. Nathan has 3 brothers and enjoys spending time with his dog and 2 cats.

Student of the weekEvan Moody is a Sophomore at Salina Central High School. Evan enjoys French with Ms. Ellerbeck and History with Mr. Rose. Evan plans to attend Kansas University when he graduates high school to study Psychology or Chemistry. He also enjoys working at McDonalds and listening to music.

Student of the weekCourtney Wright is a Junior at Salina Central High School. Courtney makes the most of her high school experience by taking advantage of opportunities to help the people around her. Aside from school, my job is an important part of her life. She enjoys the teamwork and environment of her workplace. Mr. Cullins' art class is something she always looks forward to during school, and knowing she is surrounded with staff like Mrs. Fitzpatrick, Mrs. Brooks, Ms. Bonar, and Mr. Dix makes her school day more enjoyable. After high school, Courtney plans on taking online classes for Phlebotomy. She may even dabble in Cosmetology, tattooing and piercing. Courtney enjoys spending her free time hanging out with her best friend, long boarding, art, and making money.

Student of the weekAndin Price is a Senior at Salina Central High School. Andin just finished up his last high school football season, where he started as kicker and safety. Outside of school he has volunteered to cook for a golf scramble, and walked laps with elementary students at Meadowlark and Oakdale with his football team. Andin says that he likes Art, Welding, and Cabinet Making Class. Playing football with his friends on Friday nights have been a major highlight here at Central. Andin wants to be an Electrical Lineman, and maybe attend a 2 year Technical College. Besides woodworking and welding, he also enjoys hunting, fishing, and leather working.

Student of the weekMacie Wisbey is a Freshman at Salina Central High School. Macie participates in the CHS Band, and on the Debate Team, she is also apart of the Girls Basketball and Track & Field Teams. Outside of school Macie volunteers at the River Festival. She says, "My favorite class has to be French because my classmates are really good, and I have a lot of friends in it. I also love Mrs. Corcoran and the way she teaches her advanced class". Macie knows she would like to major in Veterinary Science, but she has not yet chosen a school. She has two sisters, one of them being her twin, and a cat named Bamabas. She enjoys longboarding and cooking/baking.

Student of the weekEmma Rodina is a Sophomore at Salina Central High School. Emma is involved in FCCLA as the Co-President, HOSA, and track & field. Outside of school she helps with kid's ministry at her church and with camps in the summer. Emma loves both her Sports Medicine and Nutrition classes because she finds Medical Science fascinating. Emma is a huge K-State fan, but is open to any college in Kansas. She want's to pursue a career in the Medical field, she is currently considering a Childlife Specialist or High School Medical Science Teacher. Emma enjoys boxing and being outside with friends. She loves being around people and offering a helping hand if needed.

Student of the weekMya McGreevy is a Junior at Salina Central High School. Mya plays string bass in Orchestra. Mya likes being with her friends at school and her favorite class is English II. She plans on attending a college in Missouri to become a Teacher. Mya enjoys being an only child.

Student of the weekMason Gary is a Senior at Salina Central High School. Mason plays on the football and basketball teams, he also participates in student council. Outside of school Mason is involved with First Presbyterian Church, First Presbyterian Manor, and a senior living volunteer. He likes being with his friends at school and making long-lasting bonds with his teachers. Mason is undecided on a college, he wants to study Pre-Med. or Pre-Dental. Mason enjoys hanging out with friends and family and playing sports.

Student of the weekZavin Patrick is a Freshman at Salina Central High School. Zavin plays on the football and track teams, he also participates in Choir. Outside of school Zavin offers his time once a month to cook breakfast at his Church. He says his favorite teacher is Mr. Dow because he is nice and understanding. Zavin plans to attend K-State for Engineering or a Technical College for Welding or Mechanics. Zavin enjoys spending time with his two dogs Rambo and Colby.

Student of the weekAzbey Peckham is a Sophomore at Salina Central High School. Azbey is on the basketball and swim teams, she also participates in scholars bowl and student council. Outside of school Azbey is involved in youth group at her Church. She says her favorite class is Dr. Werth's English class. When Azbey graduates, she plans to attend a college out of state somewhere.

Student of the weekTitus Shafer is a Junior at Salina Central High School. Titus competes on the Cross    Country and Track Teams, and is also a part of the schools Chess Club. Titus enjoys his AP Physics and his Engineering class with Mr. Hair, he says "Cross Country is also a great ending to my school day". Titus is planning to attend College once he graduates High School. In his spare time he likes to play video games.

Student of the weekKatelyn Botz is a Senior at Salina Central High School. Katelyn is involved in many school activities such as the CHS Cheer Team, Track Team, Book Club, and National Honors Society. She has leadership roles in the Environmental Club, Student Council, and Cheer Council. Outside of school Katelyn participates in Girl Scouts of America, and First United Methodist Church of Salina Youth Group. She says, "I love making art projects in Mrs. Dykes 3-D art class". Some of her hobbies include reading, writing, playing video games, and hanging out with her cats Smokey and Bandit. Katelyn plans to get a History education degree at Kansas Wesleyan University and then following that up with a Masters in Library Science at Emporia State university.

Student of the weekOlivia Owings is a Freshman at Salina Central High School. Olivia is on the CHS Cheer Team, Debate Team, and will be performing in One Acts. Outside of school she is involved in the Salina Aquatics Club. Olivia likes the challenge of her Advanced English Class and how it allows her to think deeper, seeing her friends at school is also a bonus. Olivia would like to attend the University of Hawaii to study biology or journalism.

Student of the weekHarper Johnston is a junior at Salina Central High School. Harper is Central's Junior Class  President and Treasurer of the Executive Board of Thespian Troupe 639. Other school activities include Orchestra and singing in the Choir -  Free Spirit and Choraliers. Outside of school, Harper participates in shows, classes, and volunteer work at SCT. Harper loves the arts program at Central and says, "All of my involvement in fine arts is what keeps me happy and motivated." After high school, she would love to go to college and become a Teacher or Professor.

Student of the WeekDamian Chronister is a senior at Salina Central High School. Outside of school, Damian participates in Boy Scouts and is very close to getting his Eagle. Damian says the best part about school is his PBD classes because he is able to work at his own pace. After graduating from high school, Damian plans on attending KU for Medical School.
