Attendance/Cut Policy

School attendance is a key factor in student success and we want to make sure we are answering questions and working with families to ensure students are present each day all day. Parents and guardians can find attendance information in Skyward.

Absences and tardiness can affect your students’ academic performance. Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school because they are more connected with the daily learning activities and classroom interactions. If you need to call your student out due to an illness or appointment please call 785-309-3508 or 785-309-3507. You can also email [email protected]

Cuts are absences where neither the parent nor the school is aware of the absence until after it occurs. Below is Salina Central High’s cut policy, that follows the board approved 2023-2024 Student Handbook.

CHS Cut Policy

1 Cut = Conference with an Administrator

2 Cuts = After School Detention

3 Cuts = ISS 1 day

4 Cuts = OSS 1 day

5 Cuts = OSS 2 day

6 Cuts = Student support meeting

Continuing to cut may result in a long term suspension hearing
