Read on to learn about the impressive achievements of CHS's students, the diverse programs, and partnerships that set them up for success, and why nearly 200 of our students were recognized for demonstrating excellent character and respect.
With 143 students enrolled in over 190 AP courses, there's no doubt that CHS takes education seriously. These students put in a rigorous amount of hard work and dedication to further their education and prepare for college. While the school prides itself on academics, it also offers a wide variety of CTE programs. Central High School offers programs in agriculture, business, computer sciences, family and consumer sciences, health occupations, marketing, trade and industry, and more, which expose students to practical, hands-on training in the career field of their choice.
Central High School has established several partnerships with area colleges, offering students the opportunity to earn college credits while in high school. This allows CHS students to get a head start on fulfilling college requirements before entering higher education institutions. This year, 108 CHS students enrolled through Salina Area Technical College earned 340 college credit hours in the concurrent credit program.
If you've heard of the CHS Climate Team, then you would have heard about the positive impact they have made. They recognized 194 students for their extraordinary demonstrations of respect, safety, and character. The school rewards students for following "The Central Way" rules and expectations which encourage social-emotional learning and positive character development.
In addition to excelling in the classroom, Central High School offers ample opportunities for students to get involved outside the classroom. They have a wide variety of clubs, activities, and athletics for students to participate in, including the National Honor Society, Future Farmers of America, and more. These activities give students a chance to explore their interests, refine their skills, and develop their strengths in a supportive and enriching environment.
From academic achievements to personal development opportunities, Central High School is a fantastic place for students to grow, learn, and thrive. The school's programs, partnerships, and support systems create an environment that fosters excellence while preparing its students for success beyond high school. So, if you or someone you know is considering enrolling in Central High School, know that you will be getting more than just an education. You will become a part of a strong community that values traditions, fosters positive relationships, and creates countless opportunities for leadership and growth.
